It is said to come from several locations, but is perhaps best known for its deposits in Norway, where it was first discovered in 1820. Its named for the mythical island of Thule, which is an ancient name for Scandinavia, and it is the national gemstone of Norway. Deposits thought to be Thulite in areas outside of Norway
