[28] Should nursing mothers take additional oral B12 with injections
From my experience as a medical professional, B12 injections do play a role in improving energy levels, especially for those who are B12 deficient
Shots of vitamin B12 are often given in doses of 1,000 mcg/mL, while vitamin B12 pills often come in capsules, tablets, or soft gels of 50 to 5,000 mcg
This makes injections highly effective for pernicious anaemia and other malabsorption syndromes, including post-gastrectomy states, Crohn's disease affecting the terminal ileum, and certain medications that interfere with B12 uptake
B 12 will be used throughout this guideline
This means B12 deficiency is real and underdiagnosed, but it is not universal and not everyone experiencing fatigue has a B12 problem
