The Whitley Coast Pastel James Alder travelled to PapuaSlater at his very best! Featuring Whitley Bay before it was developed. A sweeping scene including figures, boats, and St. Mary's lighthouse. This painting was part of the Northern Counties Exhibition held at the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle in 1908 where it was indeed exhibited under the title The Whitley Coast. Oil on canvas (inscribed in pencil verso with title) 23 1 2" x 43" Signed. (believed original frame).
