Group Portrait, c1962. Mining; Buildings Inscription verso: Raymond standingA 'monster machine' on what appears to be the south end of Fifth Ave. with Wendy, Lenore and Greg Hakonson and Gordon Westberg standing at the front of the machine. The "monster" was brought into the Yukon by the American Army and was intended to be a tool to move men and equipment easily in the north in response to a perceived threat from communism. The machine was not successful and was returned to the south via the not yet built Dempster Highway.
