17th-18th Century Carved Polychrome Sculpture, Figurehead late 19th century-early 20th century blue swirl mark on baseBeautiful 17th 18th Century Carved figure of a maiden or saint, possibly a ships figurehead, probably Portuguese, in draped clothing. Her face is realistically rendered in a gentle expression, her draping and hair and clothing forming a harmonious flowing form throughout. There are traces of original paint and gilding throughout.
