The subject is Seaton Sluice on the Northumbrian coast and likely painted in the first half of the 20th Century before the cottage in the foreground was demolished

The use of light in this watercolour is excellent

We believe only four artists have been invited to paint the cattle including Edwin Landseer 1802 - 1873 and Thomas Bewick 1753 - 1828
